F.R.O.G. - Fully Rely on God

Scripture: Luke 22:60-62
But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are saying!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” So Peter went out and wept bitterly.

Observation:
Peter has had the last supper with Jesus where he was told that he would betray Jesus. Peter really didn't think he would do something like that. Then after Jesus arrest, he goes and does exactly what he said he wouldn't do, betrays Jesus 3 times. The rooster crows and suddenly with one look from Jesus, Peter remembers and is so shocked and ashamed at himself he runs away and cries.

Application:
This passage tells me that I should not be overconfident in my own power. I may want to do the right thing, but I have a sinful nature that loves to do what is wrong. When I am in a situation where I must choose right or wrong, I must ask Jesus for help. Every time I choose the wrong path, I hope and pray that the Lord will make me feel shame and sorrow for it, so that I will learn not to do it again.

Prayer:
Dear Lord help me not rely on myself, but to rely on You and Your power. Help me make wise choices. When I err and make a wrong move please humble me and bring me to repentance so that may learn what is right and pleasing to you. Please teach me your ways and keep me on the right path. In Jesus Name Amen.
