I Am No Better

Scripture: Luke 19:7
But when they saw it, they all complained, saying, “He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.”

Observation:
Zacchaeus who is a tax collector has climbed in a tree to see Jesus because he is to short to see Him through the crowd. When Jesus sees him he tells him to come down because He is going to his house. The crowd is not happy. Zacchaeus is a tax collecting thief. What a sinner he is. How can Jesus be around such people?!

Application:
Try thinking of the type of person you don't like being around...thieves, murders, prostitutes etc...These people are sinners, right? Well guess what...I am a sinner too, I just might not be so obvious about it. God does not place a value on sin. It is all the same and it all has the same result...death. So the next time I am tempted to think I am better than someone because of their life choices, I should remember that God knows the heart of each person and I don't.

Prayer:
Dear Lord help me to treat all people the way You would treat them. Help me to look past the sin and appearances. Help me to realize this person is of such great value to you that you were willing to die for them. Help me not to have a better than you attitude. In Jesus Name Amen.
