Scripture: Genesis 50:19-21
Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.
Observation:
Many years have passed and Joseph's brothers become fearful that Joseph will get revenge for what they did to him now that their father has died. Joseph tells them that he isn't God and it's not his job to punish them. Through Joseph's experiences he sees that God was working, and even though he was on a path he didn't choose for himself God certainly intended that good things would come of it. He spoke kindly to his brothers and reassured them that they were forgiven.
Application:
It is hard to see why God allows bad things to happen to His people. This example of God blessing Joseph and the people he worked for, tells me that God is always with me. When I am wronged by someone I need to remember that the situation is not hopeless. I also need to remember that it isn't my job but God's to punish people. I hope I always remember that no matter what my circumstances that God is always with me and seeking good things for me.
Prayer:
Dear Lord thank you for always being with me. Thank you for the good things you given me. Help me to remember that no matter what my circumstances you will take care of me. In Jesus Name Amen.
