Scripture: Genesis 19:9
And they said, “Stand back!” Then they said, “This one came in to stay here, and he keeps acting as a judge; now we will deal worse with you than with them.” So they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near to break down the door.
Observation:
Lot is basically trying to appeal to the groups morals and they have none. He even offered his daughters to spare them. They want to kill him because they think he is judging them.
Application:
There have been times I have met people who seem at first to be friendly but the moment we start talking spiritual things everything changes. They don't want to hear it and even if you back off, they still feel like you are pressuring them or judging them even though you have done nothing. I think I know why that is...it is because even though I am not doing anything to them personally, they are watching me now and God's character stands out. If I am living a Christian life then it will expose the flaws of a non Christian life and I don't have to say a word. I must realize though that there will be a point in time at which my witness whether it be vocal or silent will do no more good to the person who is rejecting God and I need to move on.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to be a powerful witness for you. Help me not be afraid to stand firm in my beliefs even in the face of danger. Guide me Lord and help me to know when it is time to move on and if I can't recognize it lead me by the hand just like you did for Lot. In Jesus name, Amen.
