Watch and Be Ready

Scripture: Luke 21:36
Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Observation:
He is telling the people about the events leading up to his return. He says that we should keep a watchful eye and pray that we will be allowed to escape the calamities that are coming and be able to stand before Jesus.

Application:
How I long for the soon return of Jesus. So many times though I find myself getting wrapped up in the things of this world and I no longer have my mind focused on His return. Then when something major happens in the world - war, earthquakes, etc... It suddenly gets my attention and I focus once again on end time events. Jesus is telling me that I should not be this way. He is telling me to WATCH, PRAY AND BE READY.
If there were a physical war going on in my country and I was told to watch and be ready for certain things to happen in order that I may be saved, I think I would have a hard time losing my focus.
A major war is going on in our world and it is spiritual. If I could see it, I would probably be terrified. Not being able to see it, doesn't mean it's not happening. Jesus gave us signs to look for, to let us know when to act and that the time of His return is near. I should remain ever watchful, prayerful and ready so that I will be saved when He returns.

Prayer:
Dear Lord thank you for your guidance and your love for me. Help me not grow complacent while I wait. Help me to be watching and praying so that I will be ready when you return. In Jesus Name Amen.
